Measure first
Use actual finished or nominal dimensions consistently and measure each wall/run separately where openings or layout changes occur.
Calculate lumber, board feet, studs, plywood, molding and stairs.
Calculate board feet from thickness, width, length and quantity.
Estimate board quantity and total linear footage.
Estimate wall studs from wall length, spacing and corners.
Estimate 4×8 sheet quantity for a surface area.
Estimate crown molding linear footage with waste.
Calculate riser count, tread count and practical stair dimensions.
Lumber, board-foot, stud, sheet-good, molding, baseboard and stair planning.
Use actual finished or nominal dimensions consistently and measure each wall/run separately where openings or layout changes occur.
Where a calculator asks for coverage, yield, spacing, density, package size or price, use the value from the actual product or quote whenever possible.
Structural lumber sizing and stair geometry may be regulated by local code; quantity calculators do not replace span tables or code checks.
